CAMDEN, N.J. — The Philadelphia 76ers got back to work on Saturday to prepare for a matinee with the Miami Heat on Sunday afternoon looking to grow as a team. The Sixers are coming off a terrific road win over the Milwaukee Bucks and are in the middle of climbing the standings in the Eastern Conference.

As far as injuries are concerned, Joel Embiid has missed the previous six games–five of those due to a right knee issue that has popped up. The Sixers announced on Saturday that he is still working through things and is making progress, but still has some soreness in the knee that is holding him back.

All of this is so new and coach Nick Nurse and his staff are still looking to learn about what they can do to help Embiid going forward.

“I think that I can’t predict any of it, right?” said Nurse. “I think we’re trying to take the best care we can of him and get him out there. He wants to play. He’s being very diligent. He’s all this stuff. He’s doing a lot to try to get back on the floor, and I think it’ll be soon.”

Nurse has constantly said he thinks it will be soon. He knows that, but all he can do is help the big fella stay ready and listen to the doctors,.

“I know this has been a long ‘I think it’ll be soon,’” Nurse added. “But just keep doing the right things and keep listening to what the doctors tell us.”

Adem Bona will also miss the next two games due to his right ankle sprain and will be re-evaluated after Tuesday’s contest with the Orlando Magic.
