Serena Williams shared a rare glimpse of her 2-year-old daughter Adira on Instagram, introducing her youngest to tennis, the sport Williams made a legendary impact on.

“This is me sharing my passion for tennis with my youngest daughter,” Williams wrote on November 24 alongside photos of mother and daughter on the tennis court, Adira adorably pictured in her tennis whites.

Williams—who also shares 8-year-old daughter Olympia with husband Alexis Ohanian—stepped back from playing tennis professionally in 2022 to not just raise her daughters but to also launch other business ventures like Wyn Beauty and her venture capital fund Serena Ventures.

Of Olympia and Adira, Williams previously said, “I want them to always be certain of who they are and never shy away from being themselves. Whether it’s through fashion or in life, it’s about celebrating what sets them apart and feeling strong and comfortable with who they are.”

Of prioritizing other aspects of life in addition to tennis, Williams told People in 2021—one year before stepping back from the game and two years before the birth of Adira in 2023—“I’ve been so focused on my career my whole life, but when I had a family and got married, I realized that there’s so much more to life. And that was great.”

But Williams has also lamented about the difficult decision to leave the sport, writing in an essay for Vogue, “Believe me, I never wanted to have to choose between tennis and a family. I don’t think it’s fair. If I were a guy, I wouldn’t be writing this because I’d be out there playing and winning while my wife was doing the physical labor of expanding our family.”

“Maybe I’d be more of a Tom Brady if I had that opportunity,” she added.

Williams previously said that Olympia, who is six years older than Adira, “prayed for a sister” and that she was “loving” having a sibling. Ahead of Adira’s birth, Williams said, “I was like, ‘Okay, I don’t know if I can like anyone as much as I love Olympia.’ I was really nervous about that. But I feel like it all worked out.”
