A CHILD WAS HIT BY A CAR ALLEGEDLY HERE AT THE WALMART PARKING LOT IN ENGLEWOOD ON MCCALL. >> ROAD YOU CAN SEE THE YELLOW JEEP BEHIND ME HERE IN THE PARKING LOT IN A BIG SECTION CLOSED OFF WITH CRIME SCENE TAPE IN FRONT OF THE PARKING LOT. THERE IS A SHOPPING CART LAYING ON ITS SIDE. WE’RE NOT SURE IF THAT IS PART OF THE INCIDENT, BUT ACCORDING TO CHARLOTTE COUNTY, PUBLIC SAFETY FIRE AND EMERGENCY SERVICE CREWS WERE CALLED ALONGSIDE AND WOOD FIRE TO THE SCENE AROUND 08:23PM. THIS EVENING. THE FLORIDA HIGHWAY PATROL IS INVESTIGATING THE CRASH. YOU CAN ALSO SEE A STATE TROOPER AND CHARLOTTE COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPUTIES HERE ON THE SCENE IN THE PARKING LOT AT THE WARMER. THE WATER JUST CLOSED AT 11, BUT YOU CAN ALSO SEE THAT THIS SECTION OF THE PARKING LOT IS STILL CLOSED. THERE WAS HELICOPTER THAT PICKED UP THE PATIENT THAT CHILD TO TAKE THEM TO TAMPA GENERAL HOSPITAL. WE REACHED OUT TO FHP AND ARE WAITING TO HEAR BACK ON THE LATEST OF THE STATUS REGARDING THAT CHILD. 3-year-old boy airlifted to hospital after being hit by vehicle at Walmart in Englewood

A 3-year-old boy was injured after being struck by a vehicle at the Walmart on South McCall Road in Englewood.According to Charlotte County Public Safety, Fire & EMS crews were called to the scene at approximately 8:25 p.m. Tuesday.The Florida Highway Patrol said a 2018 Jeep was parked in a space when the child, who was with his mother and infant sibling, was standing next to the vehicle.According to FHP, his mother was putting the infant inside their vehicle when the 3-year-old walked in front of the Jeep and remained stationary.Troopers said the driver of the Jeep went forward and turned right before colliding with the child.The 3-year-old boy suffered critical injuries and was flown to Tampa General Hospital.FHP said the crash remains under investigation.DOWNLOAD the free Gulf Coast News app for your latest news and alerts on breaking news, weather, sports, entertainment, and more on your phone or tablet. ENGLEWOOD, Fla. —

A child was injured after being struck by a vehicle at the Walmart on South McCall Road in Englewood.

According to Charlotte County Public Safety, Fire & EMS crews were called to the scene at approximately 8:23 p.m. Tuesday.

Officials said one pediatric patient was airlifted to Tampa General Hospital.

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
