President Trump endorses Nebraska Gov. Pillen for reelection
President Donald Trump took to Truth Social on Tuesday to announce who he is backing for Nebraska governor.
In the post, Trump says Jim Pillen has his “complete and total endorsement” for reelection to the position. Pillen says he’s deeply honored to have Trump’s endorsement.
Charles Herbster, who has not yet made a decision whether to run for governor but ran against Pillen in the Republican primary in 2022, has reacted on Facebook.
He says he is disappointed to hear the news and that he will continue traveling the state, listening to Nebraskans, and evaluating the best path ahead.
Harney Street bridge over I-480 in Omaha to reopen Wednesday
On Wednesday morning, a major detour will end for drivers in Omaha’s Midtown area.
First Alert 6 is told the Harney Street bridge over Interstate 480 will reopen after the morning rush hour.
Back in January, crews demolished the bridge and started construction to support the new streetcar coming to Omaha.
The City plans to take down the nearby Farnam Street Bridge at the start of next year — also as part of the streetcar project. The exact date of the closure has yet to be announced.
Wednesday expected to be busy travel day ahead of holiday weekend
Wednesday is expected to be one of the busiest travel days at Omaha’s Eppley Airfield. Other busy days include Sunday and Monday.
Starting Wednesday, the Omaha Police Department is urging drivers to buckle up this holiday season by joining a “Make It Click” campaign.
In a social media post, OPD says it is cracking down on seatbelt usage as part of a national and statewide effort through Sunday. It is meant to happen as travel increases for the Thanksgiving holiday.
If you are driving somewhere for the holiday, our First Alert 6 weather team is reminding you to pay attention to the forecast this weekend — especially on the way home.
