PHIPPSBURG, Maine (WGME) — “Seal 269” was found in Kennebunk earlier this fall and was struggling.

The seal is called 269 because he was the 269th animal Marine Mammals of Maine encountered in 2025.

They currently have no other seals at their facility while they prepare for an expansion so they can care for even more animals in the future.

On Wednesday in Phippsburg, the organization released him; he’s the 100th seal they have rehabilitated.
