Manchester United are seemingly putting all their focus on strengthening the side’s midfield, having overlooked the area over the summer.

Late in September, United reached an agreement in principle with Fortaleza CEIF to sign their 17-year-old midfielder Cristian Orozco.

At the time, it was reported that the Colombian sensation would travel to England next year in July, after turning 18, to finalise his dream transfer to United.

However, it appears the club’s recruitment team intends to accelerate the process.

Cristian Orozco nearing Manchester United move

According to Fabrizio Romano, Orozco is set to become United’s “next signing”.

Romano claims that the youngster “will be in UK in the next days to complete his move.” However, he will not be able to represent United until at least next season due to Brexit-related regulations.

The Italian journalist claims United have agreed to pay a $1m fee to the Colombian outfit for their highly-rated midfielder. It is understood the Red Devils believe his value is “going to be way higher very soon”

Orozco, who captains Colombia at the U17s level, is known for his aggressive style of play and ball recovery. The right-footed midfielder has drawn comparisons to Chelsea star Moises Caicedo due to his physicality and defensive awareness.

Man United willing to sign Joao Gomes

United are also open to handing Ruben Amorim a first-team ready midfielder in January.

As per Romano, Joao Gomes is one of the names under consideration at Old Trafford.

The tenacious Brazilian midfielder, who continues to impress at Wolves despite their struggles, is seen as an “opportunity” by United “if Wolves decide to let a player go in January.”

The 24-year-old is reportedly “very keen” on joining United “even without European football this season.”
