Tom Cruise was left in awe of Sydney Sweeney after crossing paths with the Hollywood starlet at the Governors Awards earlier this month, a source tells National Enquirer.
“He couldn’t wait to meet her in person and walked away raving about how gorgeous and impressive she was,” the source says of the 63-year-old actor.
Cruise was spotted chatting up Sweeney, 28, in a viral video from the ceremony in Los Angeles on Sunday, November 16. Lip reader Jacqui Press told the Daily Mail that the pair appeared to be talking about injuries sustained during fight scenes.
“I’ve never broken a bone [but] I sliced my face open,” the Christy star is alleged to have told Cruise about her experience on the set of the boxing biopic.
According to the source, “Tom knows Sydney’s dating someone, so there’s no point in asking her out and risking embarrassment, but he’s pleased to have established a line of communication,” noting, “They’ve got each other’s phone numbers.”

Sweeney is currently in a relationship with Justin Bieber’s former music manager, Scooter Braun, while Cruise recently split up from Ana de Armas.
Still, the pair could join forces in a different type of relationship: a professional one.
“Tom’s hell bent on getting Sydney involved in some of his upcoming projects,” says the source, noting that it’s the same tactic he used to reportedly woo de Armas, 37. “Sydney’s a hugely ambitious girl, so of course she’s interested and intrigued at the prospect of working with Tom but as is often the case, he definitely has an ulterior motive!”
