EXCLUSIVE: Please See HR is never a phrase you want to hear, unless you’re Hulu and 20th Television, which are partnering to develop a workplace comedy of the same name from the Family Guy duo of Evan Waite and Alec Sulkin.

While specifics as to the plot are under wraps, the show is set in the Human Resources department of Miser Perpetuale, a massive, for-profit healthcare “provider” (legally, they have to put that in quotation marks).

Waite will write and exec produce, with Sulkin overseeing, per sources, in his role as exec producer. Trevor Engelson of Underground and Doug Banker of Five All in the Fifth will also exec produce, with Sean Shepard serving as a producer.

A co-executive producer on Family Guy where he has been a writer for the past five years, Waite previously wrote on Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, NBC’s Sunnyside, Inside Job, The President Show, Our Cartoon President and Three Busy Debras. He regularly contributes to The Onion, the New Yorker and McSweeney’s, and has written for Mad magazine, ClickHole and Funny or Die. His debut print humor book, Life Wants You Dead: A Calm, Rational, and Totally Legit Guide to Scaring Yourself Safe, was released by Chronicle in 2024. He is repped by Mosaic and Goodman, Genow, Schenkman.

A longtime executive producer and frequent voice actor on Family Guy, and a frequent collaborator of the hit animated series’ creator Seth MacFarlane, Sulkin is also known for his work on the Ted films and subsequent TV series, CBS’s Life in Pieces, Fox’s Dads, and the Western comedy A Million Ways to Die in the West among other projects. He is repped by UTA and Hansen, Jacobson, Teller.
