A classic rock band has finally agreed to release a superstar DJ’s mashup of two iconic songs.

Fatboy Slim announced Friday that “Satisfaction Skank,” a mix he first made 25 years ago, will get an official release next month. The tune features the famous “Right about now / The funk soul brother / check it out now…” line from Fatboy Slim’s “The Rockafeller Skank” mixed with the guitar riffs and vocals from The Rolling Stones’ “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction.”

“Possibly one of my greatest mashups,” Fatboy Slim said in a “Behind the Tune” video last year. “The one that could never be released. There’s ongoing negotiations with the Rolling Stones and Mick, if you’re watching this, call me and we can talk.”

Apparently Mick Jagger (or maybe Keith Richards) saw it. Fatboy’s record label, Southern Fried, and ABKCO Music & Records said the mashup will be released Dec. 11 as a “historic official collaboration.” The record will available as a 12″ inch vinyl single and on digital streaming services.

Fans can pre-order or pre-save the mix at satisfactionskank.com.

“The ‘I Can’t Get No…’ chant was used as a secret weapon for his early Fatboy Slim DJ sets across America,“ an official announcement said. ”The mashup left audiences unsure whether Fatboy Slim was a band, a DJ, or something entirely new. With UK dance music at its highest peak in decades, the timing couldn’t be riper for this seismic, high energy collaboration.”

It’s not the first official collaboration between Fatboy Slim and the Rolling Stones. The Grammy-winning British DJ previously released official remixes of the Rolling Stones’ “I’m Free” and “Sympathy for the Devil.”

The Rolling Stones are a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame group known for songs like “Gimme Shelter,” “Paint It Black,” “Wild Horses,” and “You Can’t Always Get What You Want.” This year marks the 60th anniversary of “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction),” which was named one of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time by Rolling Stone magazine and added to the National Recording Registry at the U.S. Library of Congress.

Fatboy Slim, also known as Norman Cook and several other monikers, is an EDM DJ who helped popularize big beat and house music in the U.S. in the late 1990s and early 2000s with songs like “Praise You,” “The Rockafeller Skank,” “Ya Mama,” “Right Here Right Now” and “Weapon of Choice.” He performed at Woodstock ‘99 in Central New York and the London Olympics in 2012, plus drew 250,000 people to his hometown Big Beach Boutique concert at England’s Brighton Beach.
