Just before the start of the 2025 WNBA season, Caitlin Clark had some words for her Indiana Fever teammates Sophie Cunningham and Lexie Hull.
In a post to Cunningham’s Instagram feed on May 2, Clark playfully ribbed her teammates before the start of what was a strange — but memorable — season for the Fever.
“Little less tanning,” Clark wrote. “A little more bball, ladies.”
The comment received more than 24,000 likes on Instagram and tipped off the Fever’s “Tres Leches” era. Even though Clark and Cunningham missed much of the season through injury, they formed a close bond with Hull — who waited until after the Fever’s WNBA semifinals run to unleash the perfect response.
Hull fires back at Clark
At the Glamour Women of the Year event, Hull told People magazine that while Clark continues to roast Hull and Cunningham over their fair skin, the two of them are more than happy to dish it back to their star teammate — who also has some fair skin.
“She could probably use a little sun herself!” Hull said.
Still, Hull made it perfectly clear that the exchange always has been humorous in nature. The sharpshooting guard called Clark one of her best friends on the Fever, and she is excited to “chase the same goals” with the two-time All-Star in Indiana.
“We just have such a natural connection,” Hull said. “We push each other in practice but also have so much fun, it’s a good balance of competitiveness and friendship.”
In her fourth WNBA season out of Stanford, Hull made a career-best 30 starts and averaged a career-high 7.2 points per game. Playing a full season next to Clark could see her numbers improve again — and it could see their bond, as teammates and as people, blossom even further.
