SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Kinney Drugs has partnered with EnlivenHealth to offer FREE Medicare Part D plan comparisons for seniors, according to the pharmacy chain.
Approximately 60 million seniors age 65+ are covered by Medicare – which accounts for about 20% of the population. Open enrollment runs through December 7th.
“Open enrollment can be overwhelming, as seniors have a little more than eight weeks to decide if they want to continue in their current Medicare Part D plan into 2026, or if a different plan would be more advantageous considering their prescriptions and health goals,” Shannon Miller, PharmD, R.Ph., Vice President of Healthcare Operations said.
Nationwide, there are more than 460 Medicare stand-alone Prescription Drug Plans (PDPs) available, and an average of 48 Medicare plans offering drug coverage (which includes Medicare Advantage drug plans) are available. The total number of plans varies by location, as plans and benefits are offered at regional and county levels versus nationally.
“When choosing, seniors need to consider several factors, such as whether they take specific drugs or generics, if they want extra peace of mind on future drug costs, would like to balance expenses throughout the year, and/or whether they want lower costs that are sometimes available when choosing healthcare and prescription drug coverage from a single plan,” Miller said.
Kinney Drugs is excited to partner once again with EnlivenHealth to make it easier for seniors to navigate open enrollment with a simple three-step process. Here’s how it works:
By phone:
Seniors call 1-844-653-5063 to speak with a licensed Medicare insurance agent. They would then provide the agent with their date of birth and a Kinney prescription number. (Note: If another pharmacy is used, they would simply tell the agent all the prescriptions filled at other pharmacies to get their plan comparison.)The agent helps them find plans that best suit their needs based on their current medications and goals.
Online:
Seniors visit www.NavigateMyCare.com/Kinney,Click on FIND A PLAN and follow the prompts to enter their date of birth and a Kinney prescription number. (NOTE: If they use a different pharmacy, they can enter their medications manually.)The comparison tool will then show them available plans and what each would cost considering their medications and goals. (NOTE: Seniors do not have to use a Kinney pharmacy to take advantage of this free service. In that case, they would simply tell the agent all the prescriptions filled at other pharmacies to get their plan comparison.)
