GRIFTON, N.C. (WITN) – Residents of Grifton are being told to boil their water because of possible contamination.
The town says a water main break at Church Street and Charles Street may give residents low water pressure. That leak could allow contamination to get into the water system.
Residents are being told to boil water for one minute when using water for drinking, cooking, or making ice. Bottled water is a safe alternative.
The town says those with weakened immune systems, infants, pregnant women, and the elderly should consult a doctor before drinking tap water.
Grifton says the boil water notice will remain until tests show there’s no contamination in the water system.
