Jean Beasley, a renowned figure in sea turtle conservation, has passed away, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and impact.

Officials say that for over 50 years, Beasley worked tirelessly to protect sea turtles, resulting in the safeguarding of more than 3,027 nests and the emergence of over 245,839 hatchlings since she began formally collecting data in 1995.

Her efforts extended beyond data collection; she founded the Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center in memory of her daughter.

Since its inception, the center has treated over 1,671 sick and injured sea turtles.
