PHILADELPHIA — The Philadelphia 76ers are 20 games into the 2025-26 season, which is about the quarter-mark of the 82-game grind. That means it’s time to evaluate the team with a solid sample size at this early stage of the season.
The Sixers are 15th in the league in offensive rating as well as defensive rating so they have been a middle-of-the-pack team in both categories. When considering all of the injuries to the likes of Paul George and Joel Embiid as well as key pieces such as Kelly Oubre Jr. and Trendon Watford, and their season is going well.

“I think we’re getting better,” Tyrese Maxey said after the win over the Washington Wizards on Tuesday. “It’s a little difficult with guys in, guys out. That’s hard creating continuity, but I think we’ve done a good job of competing every single night. Orlando kicked our behind (a 41-point loss), but that’s how it goes sometimes in a season. We’re playing the right way. I think we’re competing extremely hard on the defensive end. We’re trying. Guys are coming and getting their work in and being extremely professional, and we’re doing a really good job, and just got to keep building.”
As mentioned above, the Sixers are once again dealing with a slew of injuries. Embiid, George, and Maxey have played exactly one game together thus far. Embiid has played only seven games thus far and George has only played six games at this point. When considering all of that, the Sixers are sitting at 11-9, and are in a much better position than the 2024-25 season. All of that is encouraging for Philadelphia.
“Good despite, again, injuries and guys in and out and us having to shift and mold, I would say good,” George said. “I think now we should have some consistency with health. So, hopefully we’ll be trending. We got a nice break coming up. We should come out of that trending upward.”
