World News Live Updates: Car bomb kills five, injures three near Michoacan police station

Mexican authorities reported that at least five people were killed and three were injured after a car exploded outside a police headquarters in the western state of Michoacan on Saturday.

The explosion occurred in front of the police station in the coastal city of Coahuayana, with the state prosecutor’s office confirming that three of the fatalities were local police officers.

Michoacan is a region known for high levels of violence due to the presence of powerful drug trafficking groups, including the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG).

While car bombs are uncommon in Mexico, this incident follows a similar attack that injured people in neighbouring Guanajuato state in October.
