Mt. La Crosse experienced a record-breaking opening weekend, drawing skiers and snowboarders despite the cold weather.
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) – Mt. La Crosse experienced a record-breaking opening weekend this year, drawing skiers and snowboarders in numbers despite the cold.Â
A new snow-making system, combined with early cold weather, contributed to the mountain having the most snow and open terrain on opening weekend in its history.Â
“It’s been a while since we’ve had what felt like a real Wisconsin winter for opening weekend, and I think everybody kind of felt that,” said General Manager Darcie Breidel. “People were so happy to get back out here, and we’re just thrilled we were able to open up with this much this early.”
The Mt. La Crosse staff is focused on producing more snow. They aim to open 100% of the terrain within the next two weeks, weather permitting.
The team at Mount La Crosse is eager for the season. According to staff, the conditions are ideal.
