Hayley tries convincing Bill to leave ASAP for their new house in St. Barts, but he insists they can’t go until the holidays. One reason? He has a new client coming in. That woman turns out to be Lynette, who is accused of embezzling from the bank at which she worked.
Hayley tells Randy that she needs to get Bill somewhere isolated. She can’t have doctors poking into his recent collapse and finding traces of the drug, which Randy insists is impossible. Later, Hayley returns to Bill’s office. When he introduces Lynette, it’s clear the two women share a past of some sort…
Ted and Shanice Bond
Thanks to a screw-up on June’s part, Shanice and Ted wind up sharing the last order of Orphey Gene’s catfish and beans. They enjoy one another’s company and have a conversation about how weird he finds it living in a hotel. (What a refreshingly wonderful acknowledgement, given how many soap characters live in hotels as if it’s totally normal!) He speaks about dining alone a lot because he and Nicole’s friends were all couples. Well, with one exception: Carlton. Shanice avoids telling Ted that she set Nicole up with Kial.
Tomas shows up unexpectedly at Kat’s place, wondering if she’s avoiding him. She admits to struggling with exactly what they are and what she wants them to be, adding they’re moving too fast. She claims not to be afraid, and he turns on the charm. She breaks out the “it’s not you, it’s me” and tells him that she is not easy to love, “which makes this whole thing risky” for both of them. “Don’t I get to be the judge of what’s too much for me?” he asks. That said, she refuses to be pushed, saying she needs to be sure and take her time to get there. He reluctantly agrees to do things her way.
Can This Marriage Be Saved?
Naomi and Jacob discuss their relationship and realize just how long it’s been since they had sex. Their formerly easy give-and-take feels, they admit, weirdly awkward. Jacob later texts his wife and has her meet him at a hotel where he’s set one heck of a romantic stage. They start to kiss, but she pulls away, saying that it all feels forced. They decide to settle in and watch a movie (thanks to a handy shout-out to Paramount, with Jacob saying he plugged their password into the hotel’s TV.) The romantic flick gets both of them all up in their feels and at long last, they reconnect and make love!
Joey Walks Away From Vanessa
Leslie and Eva meet with Vanessa, who mistakenly thinks they’re shopping for male companionship as opposed to real estate for a free clinic. She offers them good advice: Start by dealing with the legalities of opening a clinic before trying to find a space. Leslie thinks this is a perfect chance for Eva to reach out to Tomas. Eva, however, says she’s more interested in pursuing something with Izaiah… which will have the added benefit of not pissing off Kat! Needing an attorney, Eva suggests she knows the perfect person…
Vanessa meets with Joey at Uptown, still flying high on him having kissed her in front of everyone at the club. They discuss the future, with her wanting to set a few parameters. “Don’t make me promise things I can’t deliver,” he says, making it clear that he doesn’t want another wife. Vanessa admits she wants commitment, with Joey responding that her husband isn’t even cold in his grave. This pushes all her buttons, with her accusing him of running scared. She promises she’s not his ex-wife and would never cheat on him. But he walks away, declaring she’s pushed him too far!
