Andrew Cristall continues to bring the offense despite the Hershey Bears’ recent scuffling.
The talented forward prospect extended his AHL assist streak to six games after authoring the primary apple on Brett Leason’s second-period power-play goal against the Providence Bruins.
Cristall, set up in center ice along the side wall, hit Leason in stride down the right wing. The Capitals’ 2019 second-round pick ripped a shot to the far side of the net past Bruins backup goaltender Simon Zajicek. The goal is Leason’s fourth in the last four games.
For his part in moving the puck to Leason in the defensive zone, Bears goaltender Clay Stevenson was also credited with the secondary assist – his second career AHL point.
Per a Bears release, Cristall now has eight assists in his last six games, the longest streak of any Hershey Bears player this season. The rookie also has 13 points (2g, 11a) over his last 12 games.
Cristall is tied for sixth in scoring among AHL rookies with 19 points (3g, 16a), and second on the Bears in points behind fellow rookie forward Ilya Protas.
Cristall’s seven power-play points (1g, 6a) lead the club.
