The Milwaukee Bucks have been one of the most interesting teams this offseason, and their former players have helped make it so intriguing.
Over the past few weeks, the NBA world has adjusted to the new reality in Milwaukee. While it was shocking when the Bucks waived and stretched Damian Lillard, the All-Star’s next move would soon warm the hearts of the NBA.

After the sudden change with Lillard being a free agent for the first time in his career, many suitors lined up to try and add the elite player. Coming off an Achilles tear, Lillard had already made it known that he would be rehabbing in Portland throughout next season.
So, it wasn’t too surprising when Lillard made his way back to the franchise he spent the first 11 seasons of his career with. The Trail Blazers happily welcomed Lillard back to Portland, and another former Buck might have played a key role.
Lillard said in a recent interview that immediately after he was waived, he got a text from Jrue Holiday. Of course, Holiday won a title with the Bucks in 2021 before moving on to Boston, where he won a title in 2024.
This offseason, Holiday was sent to Portland, and he was quick to try and get Lillard back in town.

“As soon as I was waived, and obviously he knows that I live here and built my home here and stuff, so he just like sent me the eyeball emoji,” Lillard said. “And I kinda knew already. I already knew where I was pivoting to when he sent it, but I just didn’t wanna say nothing too soon.”
