Ruben Amorim and Andoni Iraola have spoken out on Senne Lammens after Manchester United’s 4-4 Premier League draw against Bournemouth at Old Trafford on Monday evening.

Senne Lammens has kept one clean sheet in 10 Premier League matches since his arrival from Belgian Pro League outfit Royal Antwerp on deadline day in September.

The 23-year-old Belgian shot-stopper dropped a mixed performance in front of the Manchester United fans in Monday’s thrilling Premier League clash at Old Trafford.

Lammens conceded four times after United’s fragile defence was deeply exposed by the Cherries time and time again over the course of the full 90 minutes.

However, the Belgium international ensured that Ruben Amorim’s men walked away with at least a Premier League point from United’s 4-4 draw against Bournemouth.

Senne Lammens produced two sensational stoppage-time saves at Old Trafford to prevent Bournemouth from causing a stunning upset over Manchester United.

Speaking after Monday’s Premier League encounter, Ruben Amorim showed his admiration for the United summer signing with his praise for Lammens’ display.

“Lammens did really well,” he told BBC Sport.

“There were opportunities for both sides. We created more. We need to find ways of closing the games because this [has] happened many times.

“That’s part of the process. We try to do things the best we can, but in some moments, it’s not enough.”

Lammens was met with criticism during the match after the Belgium and United shot-stopper could have done better to deny James Tavernier’s free-kick.

However, the United No 1’s heroics in second-half injury time even earned him praise from Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola after the full-time whistle.

“We struggled in the first 15-20 minutes,” Iraola told BBC Sport.

“We made some adjustments, but we were losing 1-0. From there, I was quite happy with how the game was.

“The last two were massive chances, great saves from Lammens. We take a point. We can use a lot of good things from today, but things to correct.”

Amad Diallo and Casemiro scored in the first half for United in their Premier League clash, while Bruno Fernandes and Matheus Cunha both netted in the second half.

But the Red Devils were unable to manage consistent periods where the defence did not fall apart and allow an opening for Bournemouth to climb back into the contest.

United manager Amorim is convinced that the Red Devils dropped three Premier League points based on their first-half performance over the second-half display.

“It’s really disappointing,” he said.

“We are really disappointed. Crazy game. It might look like we lost the two points in the second half, but I think we lost them in the first half.”

Amorim added: “We dominated and created so many chances. We had to go to half-time with a different result.

“In the end, we deserved more. It was a fun game for everyone at home.

“People, especially at Old Trafford, want to win, but they want to be inspired to see a team play good football. We did that well in certain moments.

“It was a good performance, but we need to be more clinical because [we] created so many chances.”

United are sixth in the Premier League table and the Red Devils are now two points adrift from fourth-place Chelsea after Monday’s draw against Bournemouth.
