A woman recently spoke about why working from home (WFH) should be more common in big cities like Bangalore and Mumbai.
Commuting drains half of a person’s energy before the workday even begins.

Office workers often face significant challenges during their daily commute. Highlighting this issue, a woman recently shared her views on why working from home (WFH) should be more widely adopted in major cities like Bengaluru and Mumbai. And we think you will agree.
She argued that many employees waste valuable “time, energy, and money” commuting to offices, often for roles that don’t truly require their “physical presence”. According to her, the exhaustion from long commutes drains people before the workday even begins. She also emphasised that “heavy traffic and poor infrastructure” only add to the daily stress.
Taking to X (Formerly Twitter), the woman wrote, “Companies should allow WFH in cities like Bangalore and Mumbai. If physical presence isn’t needed, there’s no point wasting time, energy, and money battling traffic and poor infrastructure. Half your energy is wasted just reaching the office.”

Reacting to the post, a user wrote, “Yes. Physical presence, if required, should be 1 week a month or something. It should not be 1/2/3 days a week, and I don’t understand that daily office culture. You are exhausting the person, and sooner or later, they will leave, considering most companies have lenient policies as of today. Money alone isn’t everything today. Peace of mind is equally important.”
Another shared, “The Problem is productivity, less than 10% people are productive in WFH, the rest all need to be in the office.”
“I think working from the office reduces the productivity of employees,” a comment read.
An individual stated, “Don’t know why, but it looks like there’s an unofficial policy for mandatory WFO. Remote jobs have dried up, and companies are not encouraging WFH like earlier.”
Another mentioned, “These buddhe uncles who have no life sitting at the top don’t understand the word flexibility or work life balance.”
One more added, “WFO is not just about physical presence and not just for the company, but for employees as well. For that, I think you should remember how you felt when you had to WFH during the lockdown period.”
Earlier, another person on X shared a similar opinion about working from home, especially in a city like Bengaluru. He joked that the traffic problem is so bad, it should be treated like a pandemic. According to the individual, sitting in traffic for two hours and then trying to look fresh and active at work felt too much for him. He also mentioned that the stress caused by Bengaluru traffic has no solution and makes everything harder.
