A new housing project in Charles City took some more steps forward last week.
During their December 15th meeting, the City Council approved the development agreement with Kading Properties to build market-rate housing on 13th Street, between Corporate Drive and Floyd County Medical Center. Kading’s Chace Hauschilt told City officials that they’re ready to push ahead with Union Place.

City Engineer John Fallis also recommended the Council approve the project’s preliminary plat and site plan, which has the greenlight from Planning and Zoning.

City Attorney Brad Sloter noted that the actual transfer of the property from the City to Kading is expected to happen in January.
