EL PASO, TEXAS (KFOX14/CBS4) — El Paso residents are experiencing an unusual holiday season with temperatures soaring into the mid-70s, a stark contrast to the typical 50s and 60s they are accustomed to this time of year.
Nick Gallardo Jr. noted, “I think it’s a lot warmer than normally is… Normally around the 50s and 60s that I’m used to at least.”
Many locals, like Dionne Saenz, are enjoying the unexpected warmth. “It’s beautiful. It’s perfect weather, right? I love El Paso. I love the sun. So it’s great,” she said.

While some residents are relishing the opportunity to enjoy outdoor activities, others are missing the traditional winter chill.
Maya Griffin expressed, “It doesn’t really feel like Christmas at all right now. You know, usually we’re like, at home with blankets and everything, and it’s just making it, like, not any festive.”
Despite the mixed feelings, the warm weather has brought a positive holiday spirit to many.
Juan de la Cruz shared, “We can take vacation, we can enjoy my children so is the it’s really lovely.”
Meanwhile, young Emma Gallardo appreciates the warmth, saying, “Because you don’t usually get sick.”
As El Pasoans adapt to the unseasonably warm December, some are hopeful for a return to cooler temperatures in the coming months.
Saenz added, “It’d be nice to have a variety. We might get that in hopefully January or February, but right now it’s all good.”
