State health officials are advising the public to avoid waters at Honolulu Harbor and the lower section of Nuuanu Stream due to an ongoing wastewater discharge.
The Hawaii Department of Health’s Clean Water Branch on Monday said wastewater was discharged from a broken line under the bridge at Nimitz Highway, and that it was entering Honolulu Harbor.
As of this morning, the discharge was still ongoing near 190 North Nimitz Highway. Signs will be posted, officials said.
“The public is advised to stay out of the affected water until this advisory has been canceled,” said the alert.
Details on what caused the broken line or when it would be stopped were not available.
