The Golden State Warriors are one of the most successful teams of the 21st century. They have four championships with Steve Kerr as the head coach and Stephen Curry as the superstar. Of course, they also had Draymond Green and Klay Thompson across all championships, which made them a modern NBA dynasty.

Unfortunately, the Warriors‘ core has aged, as they are in their mid-to-late 30s now. Kerr admits that the Warriors are not at their best anymore, which is an inevitability, considering Father Time is undefeated.

Kerr wants his team to keep competing despite not being a dynasty

In today’s NBA, the Warriors are one of the teams that are stuck in limbo. They want to be successful, as seen with the quality of players they have on the roster. Unfortunately, their core might be too old to compete against the younger teams like the Oklahoma City Thunder and the San Antonio Spurs.

Kerr wants his team to remain competitive, but it might not happen anymore because the Warriors’ time has passed. They were once a dynasty that almost every other NBA team feared, but now, they are not seen as a title contender anymore.

This is a new look at the Warriors because many have seen them as a perennial contender for almost a decade. Today, they are eighth in the Western Conference standings with a 15-15 record. This is not what people are used to seeing, which is why Kerr is a bit tentative with his current roster.

“I feel really good about where our team is on the floor, where we’re heading, I see the potential in doing exactly what we did last year, to really go on a run, and give ourselves a chance… Most importantly for me, is that there is beauty in the struggle. We are no longer the ’17 Warriors dominating the league, we are a fading dynasty, we know that,” Kerr said about his team and their chances this season.

He wants his team to play well, as he believes in his players. However, that might not be enough because the Warriors are not the same team they once were during their dynasty era with Curry, Green, Thompson, and Kevin Durant.

Moving forward, the Warriors will work hard to become a top team again, but it is looking unlikely, considering the core’s age and how well the rest of the NBA has improved at beating the Warriors.
