Andrea Berta has won over Arsenal fans very quickly.

The Italian only joined the club at the end of March, replacing Edu Gaspar as the Gunners’ new sporting director.

The expectations were high, and Berta has so far delivered – five players have been signed, while the sixth, Viktor Gyokeres, is on the verge of joining Arsenal.

Now, the Gunners’ sporting director is looking to sell a player, even though a transfer has looked impossible all summer.

Gabriel Jesus has been at Arsenal for three full seasons now.

The Brazilian joined the Gunners from Manchester City and played a key part in transforming Mikel Arteta’s side into title contenders.

However, after a terrific start to life at the Emirates, the striker has struggled – not just with form but injuries as well over the last two-and-a-half years.

Jesus is currently recovering from a serious knee injury and isn’t expected to be back until the final quarter of this year.

That is why many believed that there is no chance Arsenal will be able to sell Jesus, but Berta hasn’t accepted defeat just yet.

Hand of Arsenal has claimed that the Gunners’ sporting director is looking to offload Jesus, with teams in Brazil and Europe interested in his services.

They tweeted: “Andrea Berta is exploring the potential sale of Gabriel Jesus this summer. Clubs in his native country of Brazil have enquired, as have some European clubs.

“Let’s see if this situation develops further.”

Selling Gabriel Jesus could make a massive difference at Arsenal

It really is a shame that things have not worked out for Jesus at Arsenal.

After the way he started at the Emirates, many fans expected him to be a superstar, but injuries have really hurt him over the years.

With Gyokeres arriving, selling Jesus, who is Arsenal’s second-highest-paid player, earning a whopping £265,000-a-week, would free up a lot of space on the wage bill.

That could allow the Premier League runners-up to bring in a seventh player this summer.

Arsenal fans have been dreaming of Eberechi Eze, and if Jesus’ sale facilitates that move, Berta will be hailed as a genius for a long, long time.
