When Jade Roper Tolbert requested an AI-generated family Christmas portrait, a bonus face appeared — and she found special meaning in it.
The Bachelor alum, 39, decided to partake in a popular AI trend by asking ChatGPT to generate a faux family portrait inspired by Norman Rockwell’s paintings. But when the chatbot created the image, an extra person appeared in the picture — and Jade said she believes it is her late son, Beau.
Alongside Jade, her husband, Tanner Tolbert, and their three young children — sons Reed, 5, and Brooks, 6, and daughter Emerson, 8 — another little boy appeared in the AI-generated Christmas portrait, according to Instagram Stories posts she shared on Saturday, Dec. 27.
The former reality star said she thinks the boy is Beau, the son the couple lost in a miscarriage in 2023.

“Did the Norman Rockwell holiday trend and an extra boy was in our image,” Jade wrote, “and it touched my heart, because of course Beau would want to make the family photo. 🥰.”
Jade then asked the AI chatbot to correct the error, so that just the family of five appeared in the faux portrait, as they do in the submitted reference image, she shared in another post. But the result wasn’t altogether satisfactory.
“But now it just sort of feels empty,” she wrote alongside the new image.
Also on Instagram Stories, the former Bachelor star shared the prompt she gave the AI chatbot, which was, “Can you change our family into a Norman Rockwell Christmas theme photo with different poses than this photo? Make it extra cute and cozy!”
She also shared the reference image she sent — before the little boy appeared — which was from a collection of family photos that Jade first posted in November.

Jade opened up about her pregnancy loss in an emotional Instagram post on Aug. 13, 2023, writing, “I’ve been struggling with what to write here as I’ve been navigating a miscarriage.”
“It felt like all my dreams were coming true to welcome another baby into our lives, to love and to complete our family,” she continued at the time. “While our hearts are completely broken and we have been dealing with the deep and complex grief of the loss, we have been blessed to be touched by his soul for his short amount of time. I am forever changed.”
She then explained: “I’m currently experiencing what is called a missed miscarriage, so while his heart has stopped and he has stopped growing (for some time now), my body hasn’t released the pregnancy yet. I am hoping to do this naturally and am trusting in timing and in my body under the care of my provider.”

“I’ve been carrying him with so much pride and cherish every moment still left with part of him, but it has also been equally as challenging and devastating,” she continued before concluding the message with a touching tribute.
“So while I hold my belly here, our sweet baby’s body is resting in my womb as his soul soars,” she wrote, referring to her pose in the accompanying photo. “We love you with every piece of our hearts, baby Beau ❤️.”
Months later, Jade and her family honored Beau’s January 2024 due date, sharing a heart-shaped cake that bore his name on the day she would have welcomed him into the world.
