Coronation Street spoilers follow.
Coronation Street’s Carla Connor teams up with Kit Green on a desperate mission to save her family next week. Her bold move comes just as Carla’s fiancée Lisa Swain and future stepdaughter Betsy are on a collision course for disaster in the Corriedale crossover episode.
Following the terror of being held captive by Becky, determined Carla is back in the thick of the action after she’s found by Kit, who’s been suspicious over her whereabouts for several days. And there’s not a moment to waste, as they race towards the carnage…
“Carla is desperate to stop Becky from leaving the country with Lisa,” explains Alison King, who plays Carla.
“She’s telling Kit, ‘Go, go go – get them!’ She wants to reach them as fast as possible.”

After Kit realises that Becky is heading for Rotterdam, he and Carla set off for the port in Hull as she makes a desperate call to Lisa.
Yet, it’s Carla’s call that prompts unhinged Becky to take her eyes off the road and spark the crash…
“Carla hears the collision and it’s awful,” reveals Alison. “She’s been through such a huge ordeal, but the moment she hears that crash, everything disappears.
“She just wants to get to Lisa and Betsy, and is terrified about what she might find.”

As Carla and Kit arrive at the scene, they immediately spring into action to rescue those trapped in the chaos – just as detective Kit happens to spot Emmerdale fugitive John Sugden.
Will he manage to apprehend the killer? And who won’t survive the crash disaster?
Corriedale sees the worlds of Coronation Street and Emmerdale collide for the first time as the multi-vehicle crash on a dark road brings in characters from both soaps.
“We started off with a shopping list of what’s the best things that can happen in a soap,” executive producer Iain MacLeod recently told us. “From pregnancy reveals to murderer reveals to affair reveals, and we literally just put the shopping list down and went: ‘Wouldn’t it be great if we could get every single one of these things into an episode? Would that not be like the best episode of soap you’ve ever seen?’
“And we had a flaming good go, let me say. We wanted to showcase the best of our storytelling, the best of our technical craft, both the production teams, the crew, everybody behind the scenes. It’s absolutely stunning.”
Corriedale airs on Monday 5 January at 8pm on ITV1 and streams afterwards on ITVX.
