Joao Pedro, Liam Delap and Marc Guiu are the current striker options in Chelsea’s squad.

In the summer, they will be joined by Strasbourg’s Emanuel Emegha, who is set to officially arrive at Chelsea then.

Whether those names are good enough to get the Blues to where they want to get to is up for debate. But in terms of numbers, Enzo Maresca will have enough No.9s in his first-team squad.

Nevertheless, Chelsea are still being linked with other centre-forwards.

Porto’s Samu Aghehowa is one No.9 who is thought to be attracting interest from the Club World Cup winners.

Journalist Simon Phillips has claimed on Si Phillips Talks Chelsea that the Blues are keen on Aghehowa once again after coming “very close” to signing him in 2024.

At the time, the 21-year-old was at Atletico Madrid and looked set to leave the Spanish club for Chelsea.

However, Aghehowa’s move collapsed at the very end, and the Spaniard would go on to join Porto instead. There, he has been a success.

In contrast, Delap has struggled since arriving at Chelsea. The former Ipswich Town man is yet to score a goal for Maresca’s side in the Premier League.

There may be some regret at Stamford Bridge over not signing Aghehowa. Again, the Spain international has been phenomenal at Porto.

Last season, Aghehowa scored 27 goals, including six in Europe. That campaign, Porto played against Chelsea’s Premier League rivals Manchester United and their talisman netted twice.

If Chelsea do go on to sign Aghehowa, it will be interesting to see what happens with Delap.

They just brought him to the club, but Aghehowa, Emegha and Pedro will be too much competition for the 22-year-old.

Guiu is almost certain to leave the club, whether this deal happens or not, perhaps on loan. Guiu will want game time next term, and he is not going to get that at Chelsea if all of the above names are there.
