EAGAN, Minn. — The Vikings returned to practice Wednesday after a prolonged break created by having defeated the Lions last Thursday.
Minnesota (8-8) will close its 2025 season by hosting Green Bay (9-6-1) at noon, Sunday, Jan. 4, 2026, in Week 18.
Attention has been placed on the status of quarterback J.J. McCarthy, who left Minnesota’s Week 16 game at the New York Giants because of an injury to his right, throwing hand. McCarthy was unavailable in Week 17 against the Lions.
“He got out there with the trainers yesterday and had a really positive throwing session, so he’s going to take part in practice today,” Vikings Head Coach Kevin O’Connell said earlier Wednesday. “[We’ll] see how he feels coming out of it, see if there’s any restrictions or any issues, before working into another day tomorrow. We’re at the point now, after the positive day [Tuesday], getting on the field [Wednesday] for practice, we’ll see how it goes.”
The Vikings are scheduled to practice Thursday and Friday. Players will receive game status designations on Friday.
