A well-known comedian is on the injured list.

Colin Mochrie is a Scottish-born Canadian actor and improv comedian best known for his appearances on the British and American versions of the improvisational TV show “Whose Line Is It Anyway?”

These days he performs as part of “Hyprov: Improv Under Hypnosis,” a comedy show featuring Mochrie and hypnotist Asad Mecci, but the 68-year-old announced Friday that he will miss shows planned this weekend as he undergoes emergency eye surgery.

“I’m very sorry to say that I won’t be able to perform in HYPROV as planned this weekend,” he wrote on social media.

“I’ve been diagnosed with a detached retina. My doctors have advised that I need to rest and recover before returning to the stage. I look forward to seeing you again very soon.”

HYPROV shows are scheduled in Niagara Falls, Ontario on Friday and Saturday, but those shows have been postponed. HYPROV is working to reschedule the shows.

It’s unclear if Mochrie will be able to return for a show in Black River Falls, Wisconsin on Feb. 14, which is the last scheduled show until mid-March.

Mochrie also performs in a two-man show with fellow “Whose Line” vet Brad Sherwood and shows are scheduled throughout January.

“We understand this news is disappointing for those who were looking forward to the performances and we truly appreciate your understanding,” HYPROV said in a statement.

“Colin is incredibly grateful for your support and well wishes. He looks forward to being back on stage and sharing many more laughs with you in the near future.”

Originally hosted by Drew Carey, the American “Whose Line” was a smash hit on ABC between 1998 and 2007.

Ryan Stiles and Wayne Brady were other mainstays on the program which featured performers creating characters, scenes, and songs on the spot, in the style of short-form improvisation games.

Topics for the games wre based on either audience suggestions or predetermined prompts from the host.
