JASPER, Fla. (WCTV) – The “active situation” on 5th Avenue Southwest in Jasper has been resolved, according to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.
This comes after deputies asked residents to avoid 5th Avenue Southwest between 3rd Street Southwest and 4th Street Southwest at about 3 p.m. Saturday. According to HCSO, the situation involved a firearm and a “barricaded individual related to a domestic violence situation.”
The sheriff’s office said after deputies attempted to negotiate with the suspect, the suspect eventually left the residence and said they were surrendering. The suspect then tried to run back into the residence as deputies approached, but deputies brought the suspect into custody using “less-lethal munitions.”
HCSO said there is no ongoing threat to the public.
