RHINEBECK — Academy Award-winning actress Angelina Jolie, who appeared in Girl Interrupted and played the title role in “Lara Croft” blockbuster movies, will be filming a feature movie titled “Sunny” in the village on January 5.
The production will capture Jolie’s efforts to protect herself and her sons from an abusive drug kingpin. The film features actors Angelina Jolie, John Cenatiempo and Charlie Plummer, according to the film database site IMDB. The film is directed and co-written by Eva Sørhaug, who has directed multiple episodes of the Showtime series Yellowjackets. Jolie is also serving as a producer on the project, according to IMDb.
In early December, “Sunny” had two days of production in the Town of Rhinebeck. The production in the village is expected to include about three principal actors and 15 extras, along with a crew of roughly 80 people.
Mulberry Street between Chestnut and Livingston streets will be closed to traffic for part of the day. Street parking will also be restricted on several nearby roads.School buses will be allowed to travel through the affected section of Mulberry Street even while the road is closed. Set-up, filming and breakdown are scheduled between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m.
