Serena Williams may be officially off the court in a professional capacity, but she is still smashing her fitness routine.
On July 11, the 43-year-old Grand Slam champion posted a collection of gym selfies in an Instagram post.
“Working out and working on my angles,” she captioned the post, which included five different selfies of the athlete posing in front of a mirror. In all five, the tennis legend has her sculpted abdominals on full display while dressed in a black sports bra and leggings.
Fans took the comments section of the post to share their praise.
“Abbbbbssss,” author and TV host Elaine Welteroth wrote.
“Come back on tour for just one year! JUST ONE!!!!” another encouraged.
“Inspired!!!” a third penned.
Williams’ latest post comes after she’s been open with her followers about navigating her postpartum body.
Since giving birth to her second daughter, Adira River Ohanian, in August 2023, the tennis star has been transparent about the real effort it has taken her to reconnect with her body and feel good in it.
In May 2024, she shared the relatable struggle of fitting into a denim skirt she bought while pregnant as a goal to fit into postpartum. Despite patience and one attempt after another, the denim did not budge past her hips.
“I just want to cry,” Williams shared in a post about the skirt, showing how she’d managed to bring it up “an inch higher” than her most previous try the month before.
The moment was praised by fans who expressed their gratitude for her transparency, with many expressing how she made them to feel seen.
“I feel every little piece of this deep in my soul,” one user replied.
Since the birth of her first child, Alexis Olympia Ohanian, Jr., in 2017, she has been open about the physical and emotional challenges of motherhood.
In a 2022 Vogue essay, she talked about her experience with life-threatening complications, such as a pulmonary embolism and navigating postpartum depression, all while returning to her highly competitive tennis career.
