The Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) announced it will support a USD 6 million investment project by Cascades United States at its facility in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, United States, a strategic initiative expected to create 36 new jobs over the next two years and further strengthen the state’s position as one of the leading hubs of the paper industry nationwide.
As part of the agreement, WEDC will provide up to USD 200,000 in performance-based state tax credits, with the final amount tied to the number of jobs created and the level of capital investment completed by the company.
Cascades, a Canadian-based company recognized for its leadership in the recovery and manufacturing of sustainable packaging and hygiene products, will allocate the investment to the installation of a state-of-the-art converting line, considered one of the most advanced within its industrial portfolio. The new equipment will enable the launch of premium product lines, increase converting capacity and optimize integration rates, expanding market coverage and reinforcing its position as a strategic partner for customers.
WEDC noted that Cascades’ expansion in Eau Claire reflects the strong commitment of Wisconsin’s paper industry to innovation and sustainability, elements that have positioned the state as a benchmark for the sector in the United States.
According to the company, the investment—originally announced in 2023—is part of the repositioning of its tissue paper production platform, aimed at adapting to evolving market conditions and supporting customer growth.
Local and regional leaders also expressed their support for the project, highlighting its positive impact on the local economy, job creation and the strengthening of the region’s industrial ecosystem.
