Around the time Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped back from their senior royal duties and became financially independent from The Firm, the Duke of Sussex allegedly “demanded funds” from his father, King Charles III.
In Robert Jobson’s new book The Windsor Legacy: A Royal Dynasty of Secrets, Scandal, and Survival (via Page Six), the royal biographer claims the late Queen Elizabeth II became “tired of the drama” that Harry, 41, and his wife, 44, would create.
Amid the couple’s departure from the monarchy — which has since been dubbed Megxit — the queen had Harry’s calls redirected to his father, according to The Windsor Legacy (released Tuesday, January 6).

Page Six reports that Harry rubbed his father, 77, the wrong way after he “swore at him and demanded funds,” Jobson claims, prompting Charles to allegedly tell friends: “I’m not a bank.”
In The Windsor Legacy, Jobson reportedly details how Megxit unfolded, including how Her Majesty — who died on September 8, 2022, at age 96 — felt about Meghan and Harry fleeing to California.
“She made it clear to those close to her that privately she felt let down by the Sussexes’ departure, which she saw as short-sighted and a missed opportunity,” Jobson, who also describes the tumultuous time as “quite mad,” writes in the book, according to Page Six.

Meanwhile, a source close to the Spare author told the outlet that, concerning Jobson’s book, the father of two is “not a big fan of fiction.”
After Harry wed the former Suits star on May 19, 2018, and welcomed son Prince Archie a year later, the couple made the decision in January 2020 to step back as senior royals and move to the United States.
