Minnesota Lynx WNBA star Napheesa Collier will undergo surgery on both of her ankles, forcing her to miss the entire 3×3 Unrivaled season, it was revealed on Thursday (1 January) according to a report by ESPN’s Kendra Andrews.Â
The timeline for her recovery is estimated between four to six months, which means she will potentially miss the start of the WNBAÂ season as well.
In early August, Collier sprained her right ankle against the Las Vegas Aces, which left her sidelined for three weeks. Then, in September, Collier tore three ligaments in her left ankle during Game 3 of the WNBA semi-finals against the Phoenix Mercury. The Lynx lost the series 3-1. Collier has been the engine behind the Lynx’s recent success, leading the team to its best record in eight years (34-10) during the last North American elite women’s basketball campaign.
