WoR guitarist and former NC State football player Ben Kaiser has been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer.

The North Carolina-based groove metal guitarist shared the new via social media earlier this week. Kaiser has already begun to undergo treatment.

To my family, friends, and all those who have supported me unconditionally over the years:

I write you today with unfortunate news, something I wish I’d never have to share. Unfortunately it is my current reality. 

The truth is this, I haven’t felt right physically for quite a few years. I always had great excuses for a lot of the problems I was experiencing such as my football career which can take a toll on the human body, my music career which can be both mentally and physically demanding, my rigorous training lifestyle that I’ve continued to lead in my post football life to stay in shape and healthy, or simply the growing pains that came as a result of getting older. It became difficult to even focus on anything except the pain but I come from a world where you’re taught to suppress that and find a way to remain strong. So I did. I pushed through everyday for years. I wouldn’t and couldn’t be stopped from relentlessly chasing my goals by anything or anyone, not even my own self. I became comfortable putting my own wellbeing on the back burner to service the greater goal, whatever that may have been at the time, and honestly that’s just my DNA, 100% or nothing! 

By December my pain had gotten so bad and my quality of life was rapidly deteriorating. On Christmas Day I went to the ER and got a CT scan. After more testing, I received the chilling news and all the answers to the questions that had been unanswered for such a long time. I’ve been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. I officially start my fight tomorrow! I’ll be getting 4 months of intense chemotherapy! I’ve faced cancer once before in my life and won, and I have every intention of doing the same this time! 

I ask for privacy and patience as I navigate these difficult waters but know this…..I will return stronger, more motivated, and hungrier than ever! I’ve made a fantastic record with WoR that I’m extremely excited to unleash to the masses and my biggest goal is getting healthy so I can bring the chaos back to venues across the globe.
