A 22-year-old man allegedly killed a Dalit woman and abducted her daughter in a village in Meerut on Thursday morning, police said. The incident led to tension in the area, following which additional police personnel were deployed to maintain law and order.

Police identified the deceased as the mother of a 20-year-old woman. The incident took place around 8 am in Kapsad village under the Sardhana police station limits, when the two women were heading to their agricultural fields.

According to officials, the accused, identified as Paras, who reportedly worked as a compounder for a local doctor, intercepted the women near a canal before committing the crime.
