When it comes to college football’s most recognizable coaches, Lane Kiffin is almost always part of the conversation — and for years, so was Layla Kiffin, the woman who stood beside him throughout his career.
The Louisiana State University coach — who caused a stir when he suddenly left his position at rival University of Mississippi in late 2025 — married Layla in the early aughts. The two welcomed three children together before divorcing in 2016. However, at the start of 2025, it appeared the couple had reconciled, and Layla has been spotted supporting Lane at his games since.
Layla has long been one of the most familiar faces in SEC circles, known for her presence on the sidelines and devotion to her family. Born into a prominent football family — her father, John Reaves, was a celebrated Florida Gators quarterback who later played in the NFL — Layla grew up around the sport long before she married into it.
So who is Lane Kiffin’s ex-wife? Here’s everything to know about Layla Kiffin and her relationship with the football coach.

Layla used to cheer for the Gators before becoming an LSU Tiger. With two alumni for parents, it didn’t come as a shock when Layla attended school at the University of Florida as well, where she was part of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority, she told The Gainesville Sun in 2009.
After college, Layla stayed in the state, working for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, which is where she met Lane. His father, Monte Kiffin, was the team’s defensive coordinator at the time.

It’s safe to say Layla has been around football since she was a baby. Layla’s father, John Reaves, was a star quarterback at UF, where he set multiple passing records and became a highly celebrated player.
Reaves went on to play 11 seasons in the NFL, with stints on the Philadelphia Eagles, Cincinnati Bengals and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He struggled with drug and alcohol addiction throughout his life, and died at 67 years old in August 2017.

Layla and Lane share three children: daughters Landry and Presley, who were born in 2004 and 2006, respectively, and son Monte Knox, whom they welcomed in 2009. When the couple divorced in 2016, Lane relocated from Los Angeles to Alabama to become the offensive coordinator for the University of Alabama, while Layla and the children remained in L.A.
“I went to Alabama, we had no idea what was going to happen there so they didn’t move,” Kiffin told ESPN in September 2025 of his then-wife and kids. “I didn’t know Alabama was going to go bad. So, then it was like, well, at that point we’ll just stay and move to the next place. Well, that ends up not working out and we get divorced.”
However, several years later, in 2020, Lane moved once again to Oxford, Miss., to take over as head coach for the Ole Miss football team, and his children eventually joined him. In 2022, Landry moved in with her father for her senior year of high school before enrolling at the university herself, and Layla found a place downtown where Knox was a freshman in high school. Presley is now in California, where she is on the volleyball team at the University of Southern California.
In November 2025, Lane announced he accepted a position as the head coach for Ole Miss’ rival, LSU. A month later, Knox told Rivals he was moving high schools to University Lab, a school on the LSU campus.
They divorced in 2016, but appeared to have reconciled in 2025

Lane announced his and Layla’s divorce in February 2016, telling Fox Sports that the decision was mutual.
“After a lot of careful thought and consideration, Layla and I have mutually decided to divorce,” he said in a statement. “We are fully committed to our kids’ future being our No. 1 priority. We will maintain an amicable relationship with respect for each other as we raise these three wonderful children.”
Nearly a decade later, however, it appeared the pair reconciled, as Layla has been spotted by his side and the two have posted together on Instagram.
In January 2025, Lane posted a photo on Instagram of himself hugging Layla and wishing her a happy birthday. Several months later, he posted another image of himself making a heart shape with a woman’s hand, captioning the post, “Ride or die ♥️.”
Landry simply commented, “Omg,” leading fans to believe the woman in the photo was Layla.
Since then, Layla has stepped out at his games and was by his side when he accepted the head coach position at LSU, posing with two of their kids.
