JOHNS ISLAND, S.C. (WCSC) — The Charleston Police Department has charged a woman in a mans death days after an assault that occurred in the Twelve Oaks neighborhood on Johns Island.
Chelsea Ann McDaniel, 37, of Charleston, has been charged with murder in connection with the death.

Officers responded to a home on Fenwick Hall Allee around 5:30 a.m. on Jan. 2, 2026, for a report of a man’s death. Detectives and the Charleston County Coroner’s office determined the death was the result of a homicide.
Detectives learned that the victim was physically assaulted by his girlfriend, whom they identified as McDaniel, several days earlier during an argument. The assault caused internal injuries that led to the victim’s death, according to a report.
McDaniel is in custody at the Al Cannon Detention Center.
