The View co-host Ana Navarro has made no secret of her love for the musical Buena Vista Social Club – she says she’s seen the show four times – so on today’s episode celebrating Navarro’s December 28 birthday the Broadway production returned the favor.
A surprised Navarro was offered a one-night-only walk-on role on the five-time Tony Award winning production. The date for her spring appearance is to be determined.

As is The View custom, the co-host’s birthday was marked at the end of the episode, with Navarro announcing that she had arranged for a two-ticket-giveaway for an audience member to attend musician Marc Anthony’s upcoming residency at Las Vegas’ Fontainebleau hotel.
Friday moderator Joy Behar then introduced BVSD musicians/cast members Renesito Avich and David Oquendo who serenaded Navarro with a birthday song.
“Oh my God, you’re not offering me a role on Buena Vista Social Club, are you?,” Navarro joked before the two musicians did just that. “I can’t sing!”
Navarro, who described BVSC as a “Cuban music concert and a play at the same time,” seemed genuinely thrown as the offer sunk in. “Wait, is this a thing?,” she asked. “I thought this was a practical joke.”
Buena Vista Social Club, with a book by Marco Ramirez and featuring the music recorded by the ensemble musician group of the title, is set in Havana from the 1950s to the 1990s and follows the lives of four musicians over the decades, culminating in their 1997 reunion-collaboration on the album Buena Vista Social Club. Among its five 2025 Tony Awards, the show’s Natalie Venetia Belcon won for best featured actress in a musical.
