A man has been arrested after he allegedly broke into a Boston business and emptied the cash register.

Boston police say Jason Archie, 53, was taken into custody in connection to the incident that occurred around 10:55 p.m. Thursday in the area of 190 High Street. Officers received a report of a breaking and entering in progress and arrived to find the front glass door was shattered, and there was no cash in the register.

Detectives processed the scene, and a photo of the suspect was given to officers, who recognized the person from a previous incident.

Officers were aware the man frequented the area of North Station and Nashua Street, so they patrolled the area and saw six people in an alley, including the suspect who was sitting on a milk crate and trying to shield his face.

Police asked the man to identify himself, which he did, and he then began to walk away. Officers ordered him to stop and remove his hands from his pockets, and he allegedly refused. Police quickly placed him in handcuffs, at which point he allegedly attempted to kick an officer multiple times.

Police determined he was the suspect involved in the breaking and entering and he was placed under arrest. He’s expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court on charges of breaking and entering nighttime for felony, larceny from a building, break into a depository, and assault with a dangerous weapon (shod foot).

Further details have not been released, and it’s unclear if he’s obtained an attorney.
