Per multiple reports, redshirt freshman running back Christian Clark is expected to enter the transfer portal, news that comes on the heels of Texas landing former Arizona State running back Raleek Brown and former North Carolina State running back Hollywood Smothers out of the transfer portal in the past few days.
Clark suffered a season-ending Achilles injury during fall camp in 2024 and was used in a limited role during the 2025 season, but had his biggest game of his career to date in the bowl game against Michigan, where he rushed for 105 yards and a touchdown. Prior to this news, Clark was expected to factor in to offensive backfield plans for 2026, but the recent addition of Brown and Smothers certainly has changed the equation.
Brown seeking a different situation certainly makes sense, as he is likely looking to cash in on his bowl game performance, so I can’t personally fault him for that. This is the nature of the beast in the current college football landscape with NIL and and the transfer portal being a significant factor in roster construction.
