The Detroit Red Wings have signed Grand Rapids Griffins captain Dominik Shine to a two-year, two-way extension that runs through the 2027-28 season.
Shine, 32, ranks among the Griffins leaders with 14 goals (tied for second), 13 assists (tied for fourth), 27 points (second) and a plus-17 rating (tied for fourth).
Shine made his NHL debut with the Red Wings last season at age 31 and appeared in nine games (no goals, one assist, 15 penalty minutes, minus-1).
A native of Pinckney, Mich., who played four seasons at Northern Michigan, the undrafted Shine (5-11, 177) originally was signed by Grand Rapids late in the 2016-17 season. He has appeared in 509 games with the Griffins, collecting 89 goals, 211 points and 577 penalty minutes.
