PM Modi pens a letter to the people of Tamil Nadu to convey his greetings on Pongal

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the occasion of Pongal extended warm greetings to people across the country, describing the festival as a celebration of agriculture, hard work and India’s rich cultural traditions.

In his letter, the Prime Minister wrote that Pongal reflects the close bond between human labour and nature, and underlined its deep connection with farming, rural life and the dignity of work. He acknowledged the contribution of farmers and workers, noting that the festival reinforces unity, gratitude and togetherness across generations.

Highlighting Tamil Nadu’s cultural legacy, PM Modi said Pongal is a shining symbol of Tamil traditions and expressed pride in Tamil being one of the world’s oldest languages. He added that the festival has grown beyond regional boundaries and is now celebrated with enthusiasm across India and by Tamil communities worldwide.

The Prime Minister also noted that families come together during Pongal to prepare traditional dishes and share joy, strengthening social bonds. Concluding his message, he wished people prosperity, success and good health, expressing hope that the festival would bring happiness to all.
