The most crucial assist made by TCU star guard Olivia Miles on Wednesday night didn’t make it to the box score, but it brought the Horned Frogs a step closer to being a top-five team in women’s college basketball. As the clock was running down and TCU faced another fruitless possession, Miles did something that stars who are already set to be a lottery pick in next season’s WNBA rarely do.

She moved away from the ball, slipped into the lane, and set an off-ball screen that disrupted West Virginia’s defense just enough to give Marta Suarez a switch advantage at the top of the arc.

It’s the kind of play you only make if you trust the moment and your teammates, and if you possess the skills of one of college basketball’s top playmakers.

Two seconds later, Suarez nailed a 25-foot three-pointer at the buzzer, and No. 10 TCU left WVU Coliseum in Morgantown with a 51–50 victory that stunned Mountaineers fans online.

Despite missing her first five attempts from deep, Suarez hit the game-winning shot. Miles never hesitated to play within the offense, and the Horned Frogs scraped out a hard-fought win that looked like a loss on paper, reports the Mirror US.

TCU committed a season-high 24 turnovers, was outrebounded 39–33, and experienced a lengthy scoring drought that spanned halves.

Miles ended the game with 14 points and managed the game even when it seemed chaotic. Suarez finished with 11 points and nine rebounds, and her poor shooting night (4-19) was forgotten thanks to her late-game heroics.

The dramatic sequence unfolded with West Virginia splitting free throws with just two seconds remaining. TCU called a timeout, Suarez re-entered the game, and the shot went up – all happening within those final 0:02 seconds.

TCU head coach Mark Campbell celebrated with his players as Gatorade poured down in the locker room following the contest. Suarez stood at the heart of it, shouting, “Come on!” with Miles right by her side.

Now sitting at 17-1 overall and 5-1 in the Big 12, TCU found itself needing a clutch showing – something they hadn’t faced much this season. They’ve blown past opponents by an average of 32.9 points, including a demolition job against Tennessee State (122-39) in their third outing of the season for an 83-point victory.

That contest remains the highest scoring performance during Campbell’s time at the helm. TCU’s sole defeat came in an 87-77 overtime loss to Utah, which sparked a three-game winning run for the Utes.

Miles sits as the No. 2 projected WNBA prospect and is anticipated to be picked by the Minnesota Lynx in the 2026 draft, trailing only UCLA center Lauren Betts.

She paces the Horned Frogs in scoring (19.5), assists (6.6), and steals (2.0) per contest.

Suarez is projected within the top-15 in most mock drafts, with several placing her at No. 11 heading to the Washington Mystics.
