On the Tube today, we have a long-awaited album announcement, one riveting interview, and the usual slew of fresh music videos, courtesy of Flea and Thom Yorke, Nardwuar and Fousheé, Kim Gordon, and J. Cole.
Flea feat.Thom Yorke – Traffic Lights (Official Visualizer)
Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea announces an upcoming solo album and drops off a brand new single featuring another solo member of a legendary band — none other than Thom Yorke of Radiohead. “Traffic Lights”, the wacky, horn-driven single, is accompanied by an equally quirky animated music video. Tune in to see what these two titans have to offer as a duo and glimpse what’s to come from Flea on Honora, out March 27th.
Kim Gordon – “NOT TODAY” (Official Video)
Sonic Youth member Kim Gordon drops off the second single from her upcoming album PLAY ME, due March 13th. Sonically, the song contains a variety of disparate elements, from fuzz and distortion to radiant synth-work, all with Gordon’s smooth vocals floating just above. The music video released alongside the single similarly contains a bit of everything, from basketballs and aliens to, as Gordon sings, “just my dress.”
Nardwuar vs. Fousheé
Nardwuar releases another interview from last year’s Camp Flog Gnaw Festival, this time catching up with R&B princess Fousheé. They talk Sleepy Hallow, Musical Youth’s “Pass the Dutchie”, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Prince Buster, and much more. Predictably, Nardwuar hands out some gifts, but less predictably, Fousheé turns the tables with a gift for Nardwuar: a harmonica used and signed by Neil Young.
THE FALL-OFF ANNOUNCEMENT
First teased back in 2018 on his fifth studio album KOD, J. Cole announces the upcoming release of his long-awaited album THE FALL-OFF ! Watch him wash his vehicle in preparation (and if you prefer to listen to albums on your car stereo, consider doing the same).
