Crystal Palace appear to be closing in on a move for one of France’s most talented youngsters, according to reports – with Angers striker Sidiki Cherif coming under a formal first offer from the south London club.

Palace boss Oliver Glasner has seen his side falter in form in recent weeks, with the injection of potential incomings needed to lighten up their season after faltering in the Premier League, as well as being knocked out of both cup competitions in the space of around two weeks.

The club have already signed Brennan Johnson from Tottenham Hotspur for around £35million, and Cherif’s incoming would certainly add to their attacking proficiency.

The report by Fabrizio Romano on X (formerly Twitter) states that Palace have sent their first official proposal to Angers for Cherif, with the Eagles keen on completing a move for the young Guinea-born star.

Reports on Thursday suggested that Palace had agreed personal terms with Cherif, and now they look to have taken that a step further, sending their first official offer to the Ligue 1 outfit for their prized young talent.

The bid is thought to be worth around €20million (£17million), inclusive of add-ons, and that has seen an agreement done with the player, with talks underway on the club-to-club side.

Palace already have Jean-Philippe Mateta in their ranks, though whilst Eddie Nketiah and Christantus Uche have acted as his backup in recent times, neither of them have shown that they are prolific enough to lead the line – hence a potential move for Cherif.

Palace are in the Europa Conference League play-off route in their bid for another major honour after winning the FA Cup last season, and incomings to bolster their squad depth will be vital to ensuring they can grow as a club, despite various outgoings.

Crystal Palace Have Constantly Lost Their Best Players

Marc Guehi has been the latest to be linked with a move away from Selhurst Park, with Manchester City thought to be stepping up their efforts to sign the England international.

Palace have seen the likes of Michael Olise, Eberechi Eze, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and more depart in recent years, whilst Guehi has been linked with City, and Adam Wharton continues to have elite clubs circle over his head.

Adding the likes of Cherif will help Palace’s supply chain if he can hit the ground running in south London, and for a modest fee of £17million, that could see them sell him for a bigger fee in the future.
