George Clooney and his wife, Amal, have amassed quite the real estate portfolio, from their Lake Como villa and U.K. manor, to their farmhouse in the south of France.
However, the constant expenses and upkeep is becoming more than the 64-year-old actor can bear, the National Enquirer has learned.
“People might roll their eyes at him complaining because on the surface it sounds like the most ridiculous problem to have,” admits a source. “But the reality is, the work never stops. Owning that many places isn’t glamorous day to day.”

Clooney, who’s worth an estimated $500 million, “says he feels there’s always something going wrong somewhere, and he’s not the type of guy who can hand it all over to a property manager,” the source notes. “He’s way too controlling and frankly, there’s no one he trusts enough to do it.”
No one but himself, that is.
“He’s the one that gets the call in the middle of the night when his house is flooding,” reveals the source. “When repairs are needed, he has to give the final word and sign the check.”

That’s not all Clooney takes on.
“He also likes to inspect them,” says the source. “Anytime he gets ‘home,’ he has to spend a day going over the property, making sure everything is up to his standard and nine times out of ten, he’ll find something that needs doing.”
There’s salaries that need paying, too.
“It’s not just the cost and time of the upkeep,” says the source. “The staff at all five of their homes need to be paid, and the bills are extremely high, even for George.”
